Occupational Health and Safety Policy

Waste Audit and Consultancy Services (Aust) Pty Ltd is committed to achieving the highest standards and performance in occupational health and safety. In doing so, it will aim to create and maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all employees, contractors, clients and the community while paying proper regard to protecting the environment, throughout its businesses.

To achieve this, Waste Audit and Consultancy Services will:

  • provide and maintain healthy and safe work areas, plant and equipment;
  • provide safe systems of work in the workplace to reduce accidents/incidents and minimise the risk of injury to personnel in the belief that all injuries and occupational illnesses can be prevented;
  • seek continuous improvement in its occupational health and safety performance taking into account changing community expectations, management practices, personnel and technology;
  • comply with all relevant legislative requirements including regulations, standards and codes of practice, and where appropriate legislative requirements do not exist, adopt and apply appropriate standards that reflect the Company's commitment to health and safety;
  • maintain a consultative approach to health and safety with the involvement of employees and contractors in the improvement of occupational health and safety performance;
  • provide appropriate and adequate supervision as far as is reasonably practicable;
  • provide appropriate information, instruction and knowledge to all employees as well as competent health and safety training;
  • ensure that all individual employees are competent and have appropriate accountabilities and responsibilities;
  • communicate openly with employees on occupational health and safety issues;
  • ensure that all employees, contractors and visitors are informed of and understand their obligations in respect of this policy.

All staff are accountable for health and safety performance in their area.

All employees have a responsibility to follow rules for safe and healthy operations and to report hazards to their Supervisors. Everyone is expected to use their job skills and knowledge to improve safety and to protect the environment.

Attitudes to health, safety and the environment are as important as other business qualities, and will be assessed as part of the annual appraisal.
